My Ranking of the Star Wars films

This post will be my (very quick) personal ranking of all the Star Wars films that have been released thus far.

8: The Phantom Menace (1999)- The first instalment of the prequel trilogy didn’t quite live up to the hype surrounding it. Filled with pointless characters and weird moments which almost makes it feel like a comedy at points.

7: Attack of the Clones (2002)- The second instalment of the prequel trilogy manages to do slightly better than the first however with some pretty poor acting and pacing issues, this film does suffer.

6: Revenge of the Sith (2005)- Easily the best of the prequel trilogy, this film does a great job at showing Anakin’s path to becoming Darth Vader. With some great performances and a fantastic ending fight sequence, it takes the spot above the other prequel episodes.

5: A New Hope (1977)- The first ever Star Wars episode was destined to create an amazing franchise. This film has some of the best characters that have ever been on the big screen and has incredible moments that are still alive to this day.

4: Return of the Jedi (1983)- The last of the original trilogy gave us a great ending with all loose ends wrapped up in a nice little bow. With some memorable moments and emotional scenes scattered throughout. This is a fantastic entry to the saga.

3: The Force Awakens (2015)- Star Wars showed that they meant business when they released the highly anticipated episode 7. It had new, iconic characters and moments that will create the foundations for a fantastic, new trilogy.

2: Rogue One (2016)- Putting the “Wars” in Star Wars. This film showed the gritty and war-torn side of the galaxy before the events of A New Hope. With new and old characters returning, it really did pull off it’s incredibly challenging task.

1: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)- This episode is my favourite in the saga as we are introduced to so many great characters that shaped the course of the story. It went to some dark places and still has me biting my nails at some points throughout.
